Swing at Life is a celebration of living between worlds. Inspired by my journey of spending half my life in Singapore, where I was born, and the United States, this illustration explores the feeling of constantly swinging between cultures, traditions, and identities while discovering that both can feel like home.
A striped hammock, reminiscent of the bold colors of Wonder Bread, cradles a cozy moment with a beloved cat, while Peranakan-inspired floral tiles anchor the composition in my Southeast Asian roots. Floating geometric shapes evoke play, curiosity, and possibility, echoing the spirit of Wonder Wander, the theme under which this artwork was exhibited at Illustration Arts Festival (IAF) 2026.
Whether you've lived across countries, grown up between cultures, or simply believe life is about embracing the unexpected, Swing at Life is a reminder that our in-between spaces often become where we truly belong.
